JAZZ BAND PERMISSION FORM
We have an after school Jazz Band, the “Rockin’ Razor Jazz Band”. We will be starting Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from
2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. We will rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday after school. ALL band and orchestra students
are welcome to join. The only requirement is that the students must be currently enrolled in one of the Roy Junior high
School band or orchestra classes with a “B” (80%) or higher grade, good citizenship “S” or “H”, be willing to work and
have fun.
Beginning Band Students: Will need to wait until they have achieved the necessary skills needed to perform the music.
I recommend waiting until after Christmas, or we reach book 2 in the “Accent On Achievement” series. However, they
are always welcome to try any time.
We will work around students after school schedules as much as possible.
Best of all, there is NO fee!!
Performances: We will be performing at some of our concerts which are T. B.A. We will also compete at the Weber
School District Jazz Band Festival on March 31 at Weber High School – time T. B. A.
Curriculum: I will be teaching basic jazz concepts and styles, jazz music theory and improvisation.

RAZORBACK INDUSTRIAL SHRAPNEL ENSEMBLE PERMISSION FORM
We have an after school Jazz Band, the “Razorback Industrial Shrapnel Ensemble”, our novelty percussion group. We
will be starting Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. We will rehearse every Wednesday and Friday
after school. ALL band and orchestra students are welcome to join. The only requirement is that the students must be
currently enrolled in one of the Roy Junior high School band or orchestra classes with a “B” (80%) or higher grade,
good citizenship “S” or “H”, be willing to work and have fun. You will also need a pair of Snare Drum Marching Band
sticks. NO PERCUSSION EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY!! We have a good mix of students who play
percussion instruments and ALL other band and orchestra instruments.
Beginning Band Students: You are always welcome to try any time. All you need to be able to do is count rhythms.
We will work around students after school schedules as much as possible.

COLOR GUARD PERMISSION FORM
We are starting the Roy Junior High School Razorback Color Guard starting on Tuesday, September 9, 3:00 p.m. to
4:00 p.m. We will meet in the Band Room
We are really excited to be able to offer this great chance for you daughter/son to learn visual performance, dance
and choreography techniques. More info. is on the www.rhsguard.com web site.
Justin Andersen, the “Pride Of Roy Marching Band Color Guard” instructor will be teaching the various skills
necessary for color guard performance, as well as Paul Hermann.
We will meet Tuesdays, in the band room at Roy Junior, from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Razorback Color Guard will perform at some of the band concerts – T. B. A.
Those who excel may be invited to join the Roy High Winter Guard and compete with them this winter.
