The Tri-M Music Honor Society, the honor society for secondary school music students,
announces the chartering of new chapter at Roy Junior High School in Roy, Utah, under
the leadership of Paul C. Hermann.
The formation of this chapter signifies the school's recognition of the importance
of the arts in the development of a comprehensive educational program. The TR-M
Music Honor Society provides a means of recognizing the efforts and achievements of
music students who volunteer their time and share their musical talent with others. Since
1952, almost 5,0000 Tri-M Chapter have been chartered in the United States and aboard
and current membership exceeds 45,000.
The goal of the Tri-M Music Honor Society is the foster greater interest in band,
orchestra, and choral performance and to provide more opportunities for personal musical
expression. Students are selected for membership in the honor society on the basis of
musicianship, scholarship, character, leadership, and service to their school and
community, The organization's high standards serve to challenge students to greater
effort and achievement and to encourage them in the pursuit of excellence.

National Association for Music Education. MENC, with more the 120,000 members, is
the world's largest arts education organization and is dedicate to the advancement of
music education at the national and local levels. MENC's activities and resources have
been largely responsible for the establishment of music education as a profession and the
promotion and guidance of music study as integral part of the school curriculum.

| What did we do last year? 1. Started and organized the Tri-M Chapter at Roy Junior High School!! 2. Recruited for our music program at Roy Junior and our feeder elementary schools. 3. Performed at nursing homes at the holidays and in the spring (when everyone forgets about them). 3. Remodeled our band room! (More like redecorating, but the band room looks great!) And took all summer! But it was a blast! 4. More recruiting at the elementary schools: Letters to the elementary teachers and students inviting them to promote our bands, a slide show to promote out band program and a prepared presentation for the elementary students. The slide show is also for our students to remember the great times that we have had this year. 5. Select the 2007-08 Band Council to help Mr. Hermann. 6. Public performances at local businesses to promote out music programs. 7. Perform a the school board meeting to let them know that we are here, growing and strong! And want their support!! 8. Raise our schools pride and spirit. After all, the band IS the 'Spirit of any school". 9. We worked our REALLY hard for our music program and had a BLAST doing it!! What are we doing this year? 1. Planning our recruiting tour for this school year. Our goal is to double our enrollment again. 2. Organizing the first ever "Music Olympics In The Park" to promote all music programs in the Roy City Area. 3. Finding ways to not only improve new students experience in the band program but supporting the school in any way possible. 4. We are trying to make a recruiting video or slide show to help us recruit, retain and remember the great times that we are having this year in our music programs. 5. Continuing on the past band traditions, creating our own and promoting our schools pride and spirit. 6. Planning a Car wash to help the RJH's Band program |

| Thank you to all the TRI_M members this year we did some pretty aweseome things! We are asking if anyone would like to be in it? meeting start soon and it's a lot of fun! You can be given many jobs, me im Sierra i started out just showing up to meeting and now I run the website! im currently looking for an assistant so if you are interested come in and talk to Mr.Hermann to join TRI-M only members can ask to become my assistant 7th,8th,and9th graders are all welcome as long as you are in BAND! hope to see you at our next meeting , see you there!
