| We have a summer band program for those who would like to become better musicians, enjoy the company of their friends, also being given the chance to make new friends in a safe environment. Students will also learn how to march and be able to march with the Pride of Roy, Royal Marching Band in parades! Students summer schedules will be honored. We know many go on trips, to camp, etc. We just need to have advanced notice so that I can plan accordingly. WHERE? The Roy High School Band Room. COST? $20.00 for a band cap, t-shirt and shorts so my students can march in the parades. WHO MAY JOIN? Anyone!! Any new students wanting to get a head start in the Roy Junior High School Band program (next years 7th grade students), and any of my 8th and 9th students. WHAT IS NEEDED? 1. A good attitude. 2. A band instrument in good working order. Beginners also need "Standard of Excellence", book 1. 3. R.H.S. Marching Band cap, T-shirt and shorts, 1 pair of black shoes. - so the students may march with the Pride of Roy Marching Band. 4. The desire and ability to have fun! | ROY CONE AREA SUMMER BAND Hosted by Roy High School Dear Band Parents, We are getting ready to start the 2009 - 2010 Roy Junior High School Summer Band! Thank you for allowing your son/daughter to participate in this exciting program. To answer a few questions: • What is Summer Band? It is a program to help new band students to get a “jump start” on their instrument before the school year starts, for current students who want to learn a new instrument and for current band students to become more proficient on their current instrument(s). • On Saturday, August 1, the Summer Band students are invited to march with the “Pride of Roy Marching Band” in the Roy Days parade. • Where do we meet and rehearse? Roy High School, in the band room or choir room. We rehearse the same days as the “Pride of Roy Marching Band”. What time? 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. • Who gives instruction? Paul Hermann, the band director at Roy Junior High School. • How much does it cost? Nothing. This is a free program for current and future Roy Junior Band Students. If we decide to get R. J. H. Summer Band T-shirts, the price of the T-shirts is $20.00. • What do you need? A band instrument and the “Standard of Excellence” book 1 for your instrument. The books and band instruments are not provided. I do have some school instruments, but they are being repaired at the music stores. Please note: Future percussion students must wait until school starts….the marching percussion are being used by Roy High School…sorry! • Where do I get an instrument? Music Village (located by R. C. Willies in Riverdale), Riverton Music S. Students must provide their own transportation to and from Roy High School. • Vacations? We will work around your summer schedule.
