Dear Band Parent/s,
As we begin another year at Roy Jr. High, students need to be reminded of what is expected in each class. Band is
a special privilege. Students not only learn new skills but also develop a precious talent.
I expect more of the members in Band. They have had to perform exceptionally well to be accepted into this
organization. Students need to do their best at all times in order for me to do an effective job at teaching.
We are also trying to teach the students proper concert etiquette and proper dress for special occasions. For this
purpose I have listed a few simple rules that will foster proper attitudes and behaviors. PLEASE READ THEM!
I reserve the right to transfer out any one who cannot or will not comply with these rules. Please sign and this letter to
me.
STUDENTS WILL:
1. Take good care of their music. Very important! Have to replace lost or damaged music has become very
expensive. The average cost of music is $3:50 per page. Neither the band nor the school can afford this.
2. Practice all music until it can be played with no mistakes. Band is a team effort. It hurts everyone's performance
when a few individuals try to hide behind the work of other. This is one place where doing our best counts and is
recognized.
3. Make every effort to attend all performances. Any reason for not attending must be presented to me before the
day of the performance.
4. Wear appropriate dress when representing the band. Students should wear best dress for concerts, tours, and
group pictures. We are representing the band, Roy Junior and the community of Roy. We should look and act our
best when doing so.
5. Conduct themselves in an orderly manner in rehearsals and in concert situations.
